The Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Committee will host the 2008 Nonprofit Summit on Thursday November 6th at Luzerne County Community College. Our theme is Building Community. As the nonprofit world changes we are all called on to reach out to diverse populations and to each other in order to continue to provide much needed services in our community.
This year there are three tracks of presentations. You can still pick and choose among the 16 different Sessions and seven lunchtime Table Topics but we have tried to organize the Summit to accommodate various levels of expertise and information need.
This track is broken down into two groupings – Operations and Technology, and Marketing and Communications. Operations and Technology includes Sessions on Mergers & Collaborations, Out-of-the-Box Fundraising, Bricks & Mortar Capital Campaigns and the Wild Wild Web which focuses on legal issues for your organization on the internet.
Marketing and Communications covers topics such as ROI for Nonprofits, Internal Communications, Reaching the Wired Wealthy and Crisis Communications.
This track covers items that are critical to the development of a nonprofit such as Fundraising & Development, Recruiting Volunteers, Nonprofit Status & Legal Issues and Board Structure & Governance.
New this year, this track provides Sessions that will help your nonprofit reach out to growing diverse populations in our community. You’ll learn about strategies for Recruiting Diverse Staff & Volunteers, Hispanic Marketing and Communications, Social Media for Nonprofits and 50+ Marketing Tactics.
Back by popular demand, we invite you to grab your box lunch and join a group in the dining room for an informal discussion on topics such as: Media Mix – What Works, Outsource or In-House, PANO Standards of Excellence, Free Research from NCAC, Strategic Planning ABC's and more. (NOTE: These are tentative topics and subject to change.) Each group discussion will be led by an expert in the field. Share your thoughts! Compare best practices with your colleagues!
New this year!!! Blogs and the New Media – a panel discussion led by Scott Sanfilippo of Solid Cactus. Want to know more about blogging? Or Web 2.0? This panel will help you navigate the new marketing world of the internet. Limited to the first 20 registrants.
New this year!!! At 4:30 p.m. we'll gather in the dining room for some refreshments and entertainment. Exchange those business cards! Ask a presenter one more question. Or just enjoy a day well spent. The Mixer is included in your registration fee.
Unlike everything else that is going up in cost, the Nonprofit Summit registration fee is staying the same. $35 for the first participant from your organization, $30 for the second and $25 for each additional person. Scholarships are available through the Luzerne Foundation – for more information please contact John Maday at 823-2101 ext. 131.
We hope to see you at Nonprofit Summit 2008 – Building Community.
